row.count added to analytic views

Hi folks,

I was recently looking at analytic view and couldn't figure out how row.count was added to the create statement since I had not modeled this measure in the view, until I realized it seems to be automatically generated.  Why exactly is this added?  Also I noticed if I were to do a select count (*) against the view and lets say the view is a CUBE type and all of the measures are SUMMED I get a result of 10 records when querying a source of 100 records.  It seems the select count(*) will show me the count of the aggregated records (10) and the automatically generated row.count gives me the record count of the original 100 records PRIOR to the aggregation.  Is this the sole purpose of this being added to the views and/or is it somehow used in the olap engine?

Thanks,

-Patrick

ie: this seems to be automatically added to the CREATE statement of the view;

{"__Attribute__": true,"name": "row.count","role": 2,"datatype": {"__DataType__": true,"type": 66,"length": 18},"kfAggregationType": 2,"attributeType": 4,"specialAttrType": 4}]}
