Re: Suggestion on Data modelling

Is it mandatory to add compounded infoobject to all the infocubes under that multiprovider?

OR

is it fine if i can add to any of the infocubes?

You can add to any one InfoCube, but bear in mind that you will see the KF values against the compounded IOBJ only for that infocube. If that's what you want then go ahead.

[Rohit] -  Sorry, I didn't understand what you meant by your statement "you will see the KF values against the compounded IOBJ only for that infocube".

ok lets say there are 2 kf's (1 and 2) in 2 infocubes (A and B) and

In Infocube A:    KF 1 - 10

                             KF 2 - 20

In Infocube B:    KF 1 - 30

                             KF 2 - 40

So, if i am adding IOBJ to infocube 1 then :

i will only see

In multiprovider:

KF1  -10

KF-2 - 20

and not the values from Infocube B?

if i add an infoobject to infocube, i need to map and re activate the transformations. apart from this, do i have to do anything else?

The Nav attribute checkbox needs to be ticked for the Segment in the Infocube(s). The same needs to be ticked and mapped in the MultiProvider too - and then the MPRO must also be activated.

[Rohit] -  Thanks for your ans. What is MPRO? is it a mass activation of multiproviders?

Q. Can i join compound infoobject with those 10 infocubes in a multiprovider?

MultiProvider does not allow joins, so no.

[Rohit] -  Sorry, i didn't explain you properly. Forget about joins. What i meant is instead of adding IOBJ to infocube, can i just add this IOBJ in multiprovider (which already has many infocubes in it) ? so when i report on multiprovider, i can simply drag that navigational in free char pane in bex? Let me know if this is possible.

Thanks!!
