Hi Rupesh,
Thanks a lot for your response.
Note - 175978: Here the symptom is although 'approved batch record required' indicator is not set in material master, but the system still requires an authorized batch record for UD.
My material has this indicator set in the material master (in the order type as well). I guess this note is not applicable to my case.
Note - 152549:The indicator is set in the material master. Batch release (inspection type - 04) is possible provided the batch record exists.
This is applicable to my scenario. The solution is also given there with a user status and customer enhancement.
But I will reframe the question - Ideally what should be the order of the activities?
Is it
OPTION A:
a. Stock Posting through QA11 (without giving any UD) - batch goes into restricted stock
b. Electronic batch record generation (COEBR)
c. Archive batch record (COEBR)
d. Approve batch record (this step always follows archiving batch record) (COEBR)
e. Provide UD (QA11)
OR

Or something else?
Thanks again for mentioning the notes - they are helpful.
