I'm aware that 1.4 is not the most recent version, but does it explain the connection problem that I expect would still be the case if 2.x was installed For example, 1.4 works fine in Office 2010 and other users' 2013 systems. If 2.x is the only version that Excel 2013 must use to be functional, that would be one thing, but if not, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the halting of 1.4's maintenance in 2 months time would seem not to explain the underlying problem of something else happening to cause this strange problem.
I'm open to all ideas as to why this current configuration behaves so differently in 2013 than in 2010, and/or how to fix it while keeping 1.4 for the time being. For example, from Excel I tried a Shell command to instantiate Analysis For Excel in a new instance but that's clunky and there must be a more intuitive fix.
